Spectacle Blinds are used in structures that need to be isolated periodically from other services. A Spectacle Blind is usually placed in the "open" position, so that the pipe can flow. If the Spectacle Blind is rotated in the "near" position the pipe is blanked off and no flow is possible. Maintenance may be a justification for spinning the spectacle in the "near" position on a pipe device. This run is done through the hole, which is drilled in the contact piece.
